The Genotek document pack: what each document is for and when to use it
Every Genotek model page has a Documents & Resources section with the documents an architect, a consultant or a contractor needs to select, specify, submit and install that model. This guide explains what each document is and when to use it.
The documents, in the order the page lists them
- Technical datasheet (TDS). The description of the model, its sizes and its technical data. Use it to select the model and to check it against the joint schedule; it is also the document most often attached to a material submittal.
- Installation instructions. How the system is set out, fixed and finished on site. Give it to the installer before the recess or blockout is formed, not when the material arrives.
- System drawings (PDF). Section drawings of the model, one per size. Drawings are named by model and joint width: Z-1000-50 is the Z-1000 for a 50 mm joint, and ZK-1000-50 is its floor-to-wall version.
- System drawings (CAD). The same sections as DWG files, to place in your own drawings and details.
- Material safety datasheet (MSDS). The materials of the system and how to handle them safely, for the health and safety file and for submittals that ask for it.
- Specification. Specification text for tender documents, ready to copy into the project specification.
- Maximum and minimum movement drawings. The profile drawn at the limits of its movement, closed and open. Use them to compare the system’s range with the movement figures from your structural engineer.
Which document for which task
- Selecting a model: the datasheet and the movement drawings.
- Detailing and drawings: the CAD system drawings, with the PDF for checking.
- Tender documents: the specification text.
- Submittal: the datasheet, the system drawings and the MSDS. Our team also prepares shop drawings, profile incorporations and quantity calculations; see resources.
- Installation: the installation instructions and the system drawings for the sizes on site.
How to download
- Open the model’s page, or find it on the Downloads page, which lists every model’s documents by type.
- In Documents & Resources, enter your access code. If you do not have one, click Request Access and send your details.
- Select the documents you need and download them.
If a document you need for a project is not in the list, ask our technical team through the contact page or at support@genotek.global.
