Product Finder: choose the right expansion joint cover

Every Genotek expansion joint cover is listed with the joint widths it fits, the movement it takes and the traffic it is rated for. Answer four questions about your joint – gap, movement, load and location – and the finder shows the covers that match. Each result links to the model’s page with its sizes, drawings and documents.

Find covers for your joint

The results open on the products page with your answers already applied; you can change any of them there and compare up to four models side by side. Covers whose datasheet states no load class, such as wall and ceiling covers, are listed only when traffic is set to Any.

How to choose: four questions

  1. Gap. Measure the joint width between the two slab or wall edges, in millimetres, at the time of installation. Each model is made for a range of gaps; the finder only shows covers whose range includes your gap. If the gap varies along the joint, use the widest point and tell us the range.
  2. Movement. Joints open, close and shift as the building expands and contracts with temperature (thermal), sways in an earthquake (seismic) or settles. Each model page states the movement the cover takes. Your structural engineer’s design movement for the joint is the number to check against.
  3. Load. Choose for the heaviest traffic that will regularly cross the joint: people only, cars and light vehicles, or heavy vehicles and forklifts. The load class shown for each model comes from its technical datasheet. For fire tender access, specific wheel or axle loads, or trolleys and machinery, send us the load and our technical team will advise.
  4. Location and finish. Floor, wall, ceiling or roof; inside or outside; whether water must not pass; and the finish around the joint. Recessed covers take the surrounding floor finish (tile, stone or screed), surface-mounted covers sit on top of it.
